Day 16

Cathedral in Leon
We are half way there!! Only 350 km to go! If my feet don't fall off (which they are trying to do), we could be there in 10 days. We will probably take longer though and just enjoy the scenery (and the chocolate museum!)

Today, Day 16, we are in Leon. It is such a beautiful city! Locals just sit in the main plaza all day with their coffee or wine, and people watch. It is very funny. We had a wonderful meal last night and ran a few errands this morning, but haven`t been able to explore much since Maddie put me on bed rest due to my ailing feet. They are getting better though (AFTER hiking in flip flips for a few days) and we will continue on our way tomorrow. In the mean time, we are enjoying our much needed respite from the hostels and are in a private room at a hotel. It is wonderful not to have to hear the odd sleeping noises of 20 to 50 other Pilgrims, haha!

In other news, on Day 14 we went on a night hike! Our guidebook described the next day`s hike as 17km with no shade, super hot, and terrible scenery so we got together a wonderful crew of international guys and hiked under the (almost) full moon! We left around midnight and arrived at 8am after many snack breaks (in attempt to lighten our heavy packs) and slept the entire next morning. It messed up our sleeping/ hiking schedule but I`m very happy we did it!

The next few days are supposed to be amazingly beautiful so we will put up more photos soon!

Hope all is well!
